Following two years of consultation the Bracknell Investment Group, made up or representatives of businesses from across the Bracknell Southern and Western Areas have finalised their Business Improvement District (BID) Proposal.
The consultation has included personal visits to businesses to discuss the BID and detailed one-to-one interviews, detailed surveys have been completed and businesses have been able to discuss their views and help build up the budget and determine how much they wanted to pay at a variety of events.
Two key project areas have been identified for activity that the Bracknell Investment Group consider would provide significant support to businesses in the area. These are improvements to the surrounding infra-structure and also providing support to businesses to continue to invest and grow in the area. The project also aims to bring the Southern and Western areas together as a collective voice to influence more strategic initiatives such as improvements to the road, rail and bus services.
Maria Sabey, Head of Property at Fujitsu, who chairs the group said, ‘I am proud to have been working over the last two years with a group of business representatives from across the Bracknell Southern and Western Districts. We have been working hard to make sure we really understand how the things which attracted businesses to Bracknell in the first place have stood the test of time and whether we are really prepared for the future.’
‘We encourage all businesses in this area to attend our events on Tuesday 17th September to find out more about the proposal that we believe will make a real difference to the success and prosperity of the Bracknell business community based in the Southern and Western areas.’
The first event will be a lunchtime drop-in event held at Panasonic Maxis 2, Western Road, Bracknell, RG12 1RT between 11.30am – 2.30pm. This will provide an opportunity to view the full proposal for the Southern and Western areas and to discuss the plans with current Bracknell Investment Group members.
The second event will be a formal launch presentation and networking event, to be held at Fujitsu, Lovelace Lane, Bracknell, RG12 8SN between 5-7pm. This session will welcome attendees with drinks, networking, a presentation of Bracknell BID – the Future Plan and a Q & A session.
Following the launch of the BID Proposal and Business Plan, ballot papers will be circulated to all potential levy paying businesses at the end of the month to be returned no later than 31st October.

Notes to Editor
Bracknell BID will go to ballot in October 2019, the result will determine whether the area will become a Business Improvement District in April 2020.
BIDs are an investment in the local trading environment through the provision of added value services
BIDs are funded by local businesses through a regulated levy, therefore all beneficiaries pay.
They see improvements to business profitability and turnover which would not have happened without a BID.
Businesses identify the area and the issues and put together a proposal which should include delivery guarantees, performance indicators and management structure.
The plan voted for has a lifespan of 5 years and further proposals will have to be reaffirmed through a further vote.
There are now over 300 BID’s across the country.
There are two criteria which have to be achieved for the vote to be successful: more than 50% of the number of businesses who vote have to say yes and more than 50% of the rateable value of the businesses who vote have to say yes.
